PAVOIR

A wardrobe, not a season

Theirs to wear. Yours to keep.

The Covert worn by a dog outdoors.
The Covert in close detail — Waxed cotton, checked lining. The Covert laid flat on natural grey linen.

Waxed, not coated. Lined in tartan.

The Covert is waxed cotton, cut with a corduroy collar and lined in check. The wax is drawn into the weave rather than painted onto the surface, so the cloth lightens where it creases and darkens where it is handled — the point rather than a fault. Re-wax it once a season and it will outlast several coats bought instead of it.

Waxed Cotton

Cotton has been finished with wax for two centuries, and the cloth we specify is an eight-ounce weight of the kind supplied to shooting outfitters. The wax is drawn into the weave under heat rather than painted onto the surface, which is why the cloth creases pale and never flakes. It is not waterproof and does not pretend to be — it is water-shedding, re-waxable, and improves for about a decade.

They are family. Dress them like it.

It will fade. It will mark. It will soften and sag a little. None of that is a fault.
